Art history
The world of visual arts has fascinated me since my early childhood. Raised as a Catholic, I paid more attention to biblical paintings on the church ceiling than to the pastor at the altar. A poke in the side from one of my parents brought me back to the reality of the moment. My interest in art was further fueled by fascinating stories from the high school art history teacher. A university study in art history in Leiden followed years later.
The world of wine
There is another world that also attracts me: that of wine. A vinologist education took me to areas that until then had been mere holiday resorts and which now presented themselves to me as regions where wine is also made. In my studies, I learned about soil types, climates, wineries and countless grape varieties. My wine tours to France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Argentina, Chile and South Africa have helped to broaden my view of the world and, last but not least, my topographical knowledge.
Art and wine intertwined
In my tastings, I bring the worlds of art and wine to life together through fascinating themes from art history combined with tastings of interesting wines. These are meetings for art and wine lovers who want to ‘sharpen’ their senses!
